Acceptance & commitment therapy, commonly abbreviated ACT, offers a proven psychiatric treatment model born of cognitive and behavioral therapy roots. The evidence-based therapy method teaches situational awareness without ownership: how to effectively notice and process our thoughts without letting them own us. Through PHP, IOP and OP programming at Real Recovery Clinical Services, young adults are encouraged to identify self-destructive thoughts and emotions which may be inhibiting recovery, and are taught coping strategies in their pursuit of freedom from substance use habits.
Mindfulness – a key component to successful acceptance & commitment therapy – offers clients an opportunity to distance themselves from mental suffering and pursue active, wholesome recovery. Thoroughly integrated into our clinical programming, mindfulness complements ACT in pairing awareness with deep realization of the current moment, without allowing the past events or future possibilities to influence the present.
Effective in treating a variety of mental health issues – including mild, moderate and severe substance use practices – Acceptance & Commitment Therapy helps young men and women foster long-term recovery and relapse prevention.
